Lambing and young dog clinic will be held March 18-19 2017 at Nippersink Hall in Lake Geneva WI.
Try out your new young dog under Gordon’s guidance and wait for expectant ewes to deliver–if they do you can watch. There will also be guaranteed hands-on experiences and videos of earlier births. We will show how lambs and their moms are sorted and cared for after birth and answer any lambing questions you have–bring them.
In between you will have a chance to start your new young dog on sheep in an environment suitable for his or her age and experience level, with Gordon assisting. Clinic will run from 8 am to 4 pm each day. $70/ dog and lambing clinic, $35 lambing clinic only. Contact Margaret here, on Facebook, or by email for more details and other info.
Over the winter we will be hosting two series of double lift and shedding clinics. This is a great opportunity to get yourself and your dogs ready for the up- coming trialing season.
Gordon will be on hand to teach you and your dogs the correct way to turn back your dogs. This will consist of 3 sessions on look backs and shedding. The 4th session will be a double lift course to put to practice what you have learned. It would be beneficial if you could attend all 4 sessions.
Cost is $25 per session.
First session will be Saturday December 10th, 8am-12pm or 10am-2pm (tentative). We have indoor facilities if weather is bad.
Dates as follows:
December 10, 17, 31, and January 7th
January 21, 28, February 4 and 11

———— Update from the event ————
The weekend went well and much was learned about breeding ewes and different rams. We will be holding another stock management weekend at lambing time.
Sunday was the judging clinic which was a bit hit with everyone.
7 dogs ran an open course with all pupils judging. Afterward came the analyzing. We watched all the runs on the projector and Gordon talked through everyone’s run, pointing out mistakes and where points were deducted.
Come and join us for a fun packed weekend and learn all about your stock with experienced shepherd Gordon Watt.
Gordon is not only a talented sheepdog handler and teacher but he also has 38 years experience with flock management.
Fifteen spots are available for hands-on weekend with Gordon. The schedule is as follows:
- Demonstrations by Gordon
- Handling of sheep
- Sheepdogs in Pens
- How to set sheep at trials
- Working the pens
- Administering medicine to sheep
- And much more!
Open time to practice all you have learned and hands on time with you and your dog.
Please let us know if you will be attending by filling out our Contact Form or calling Margaret. $100 per person includes lunch both days.
There will be a herding trial this weekend – Memorial Day weekend!
